RTA Free & Reduced Fare Rates
Changes!
RTA Free & Reduced Fare Passes
Senior free and reduced fare passes can be used on RTA fixed route bus and rail services of the CTA, Pace, and Metra. As of September 1, 2011 the RTA will only accept newly issued magnetic strip cards. Circuit Ride Free Permits are for those 65+ who are enrolled in the Illinois Department on Aging's Circuit Breaker Program. The annual income limit
is $27,610 for a single and $36,635 for a couple. All others applicants 65+ will be issued a Reduced Fare Permit, which will cut the cost by about half. The RTA mailed new cards to all seniors currently enrolled in the Seniors Circuit Ride Free program in early August. If you did not receive yours, contact the RTA at 312-913-3110. Depending on
eligibility, seniors received either a Circuit Ride Free or a Reduced Fare Permit. If you haven't had a card before or are newly eligible, you can print the pplication at ww.rtachicago.org or pick one up from the PTC Social Service office. The completed
application must be mailed to the RTA accompanied by a photocopy of your valid Illinois ID and 1 ½ inch square color photo of your cute face. Happy travels!
