ACES: Adult Caregiver Education & Support

Begins Sept. 22 (2nd & 4th Wed. of each month)
1:15-2:30 pm
Free

A family caregiver is a spouse, adult child, other relative or friend who helps, cares for, or is concerned about an older adult. Studies show that caregivers reduce their stress, enjoy improved health, and provide better care when receiving caregiver support. Come to our new group to gain valuable information on relevant topics, get leads on resources, and share concerns and tips with other caregivers. The group will be facilitated by Julie Learner, LSW of Family Service. We will tailor the topics to meet the needs and requests of our group. SE Lake County Faith in Action will provide trained volunteers to stay with your loved one while you attend these meetings. Service is provided by volunteers and there will never be a charge. If you are in need of the respite or need a ride, please contact Margie Fischer, PTC Senior Advisor at 847-572-2658.

Blue Bag Program

The Blue Bag Program is a collaborative effort between the PTC and the Deerfield-Bannocburn Fire Department's paramedics to ensure that an individual's wishes will be honored at a time of medical emergency. The bag with copies (not originals) of a list of current medications, advance directives, emergency contacts, identifcation and insurance cards is placed in your home refrigerator where medical and emergency personnel know where to find it. This information will be sent with you to the hospital via the ambulance staff. This is an optional program and you may elect to complete all the suggested documents or only a few that you feel will be necessary. Please contact Kate Shaw @ 847-572-2655 for more information. Please note that this program will be discussed at the 9/28 Men's Club
