This ancient Chinese game is a fast-paced, entertaining game similar to a card game, but using colorful tiles held in racks. This all ukulele & singing band presents toe-tapping programs of Hawaiian oldies, goldies, show tunes, and a variety of songs to delight the most discerning audience. For 14 years, they have entertained up and down the North Shore — women's clubs, business and community groups, retirement communities, nursing homes, and private parties. Their new season gets underway on October 7th. New members need to register for mandatory lessons prior to joining this group.
This is the name of a briefing book and a Foreign Policy Association program which engages adults in learning about our world. It encourages debate and discussion of important global issues. In 2010, the focus has been on eight issues of concern to U.S. policymakers today: Special Envoys, Kenya & R2P; Global Crime; U.S.–China Security Relations; Global Financial Crisis; Russia & Its Neighbors; The Persian Gulf; and Peace Building & Conflict Resolution. We have 6 computers with Microsoft Office 2007 and Internet access. Laminated instructions for use are available at each station. Members are welcome to use these machines exceptwhen the room is being used for a meeting or class. Use of the Library has increased as our programming has expanded. Please check with the registration desk for room availability and to sign-out headphones.

Digital photography is changing the way we use computers. This class will focus on general picture taking techniques, transferring photos from a digital camera to a computer, organizing photos into picture folders and adjusting picture quality. Participants will print some of their edited photos and learn how to backup their photos to a CD. Time permitting, students will also learn how to send pictures to family and friends via email. Note: If you own a camera, please bring it along with your software, battery charger, and cables to connect to our computers. If you do not own a camera, we wil supply cameras for use during the classes.

We will be working with flour three ways: Pasta Dough, Pizza Dough, and Pastry Dough. Learn the secrets of perfectly flaky pastry, silky pizza dough, and the simple ease of making earthy pasta from scratch. We will be making a classic Ham & Swiss Quiche, Roman-style Margherita Pizza, and Spinach and Ricotta Homemade Ravioli. This will be an economical and satisfying effort!
#07 & #08: 3-Soup's On! (11/1)
There is nothing like the aroma of a big pot of soup simmering away on a cool fall day! Learn the basics of making homemade chicken and beef stock. Savory Sweet Potato Soup–Infused with Jalapeno, Classic Minestrone, and Beef Barley Soup will be made. Homemade Rosemary Focaccia accompaniment will also be demonstrated. This will be a class to warm the soul!
#09 & #10: Gobble, Gobble (11/15)
Whether it is your year to host or you're just a guest, this class is a must have to boost confidence for that big day! Get a new angle on Thanksgiving side dishes such as Challah Herbed Stuffing, Sagaponock Corn Pudding, and Williamsburg Sweet Potatoes. The finale will be how to make fool proof gravy—without the jar! Turkey techniques will be discussed so there will be no need to call the Butterball Hotline!

Elegant yet simple bites will be demonstrated along with garnishing tips to make your holiday events seem extra special even if you are just hosting at home!
